Since its founding in 1975 by a group of community leaders and educators, The Joe Dwek Ohr HaEmet Sephardic School has been guided by and dedicated to traditional Jewish education through the richness of the Sephardic heritage. With a handful of nursery children, the school was first located in Petah Tikvah, then moved to Beth Emeth, Workmen’s Circle, Temple Sinai, Adath Israel and finally, to its permanent home in the Sephardic Kehila Centre.
In 2010, with the support of Mr. Joe Dwek, our benevolent benefactor, Ohr HaEmet Sephardic School, officially became the Joe Dwek Ohr HaEmet Sephardic School.
The Joe Dwek Ohr HaEmet Sephardic School is a warm family school that provides the highest standard of Hebrew and General Studies education from Pre-School to Grade Eight. The Joe Dwek Ohr HaEmet Sephardic School is affiliated with the Centre for Jewish Education, the Jewish Federation of Greater Toronto and Torah Umesorah, and follows the guidelines set by the Ontario Ministry of Education. The school is housed in a modern facility with large sunlit classrooms, Bet Medrash, modern science and computer labs, swimming pool and gym.
